In his post “No NAT November: My Month Without IPv4” security engineer Alex Haydock writes about the challenges of IPv6-only networks and explains techniques like DNS64, NAT64 and CLAT. An interesting read for someone like me, who doesn’t know much more about IPv6 than that support is still lacking in many places (like GitHub).
I found two SQLite related articles in my Pocket list, which I wanted to share.
Through a tutorial posted on Hacker News, I just came across another alternative to IFTTT and especially Zapier. IFTTT costs money now (at least pretty quickly when you get into the subject matter) and Zapier is not that cheap either. n8n is a good open source solution when it comes to workflow automation and is probably a lot more powerful compared to IFTTT too.
Tom Scott made a great video about “Why The Web Is Such A Mess”, explaining cookies and GDPR in a simple way.
Kev Quirk wrote a great article about why having “full post RSS feeds” is a good idea. It’s mainly because then people can use a feed reader, customize it to their personal preferences (font, contrast and other accessibility features) and read the content in their preferred way.
Danny Van Kooten wrote an great article. He wrote how he tries to reduce the environmental impact of his WordPress plugins:
This article is from 2018, but it’s so true! It contains a lot of good reasons why Google AMP is bad for the health of the web. To do my part, I don’t implement AMP for my sites.
I found Drew’s website when he announced the opening of his git hosting alternative sourcehut. He has recently made the move to work full time on open source and often writes very interesting and deep technical articles on his blog.
