Mickey MellenAhh, you got me excited! Then I logged into Verizon, and it's still "pending" and likely arriving on August 27. I was hoping somehow UPS might surprise me today, but it seems not. Great watch, though!
Jan-Lukas ElseAbout my new watch: Samsung Galaxy Watch 4In response to my teasing post about my new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, James suggested I share my experience with the watch on my blog and asked what my reasons are for wearing a smartwatch. So here is my answer. My new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4My smartwatch historyMy very first smartwatch was a Sony Smartwatch 3, which my parents gifted me for Christmas in 2014 or 2015. It ran Android Wear 1 (the predecessor of Android Wear 2 later Wear OS and the new Wear OS 3). It allowed me to not always have to…
Jan-Lukas ElseMy August ‘21 in ReviewActually, I had planned to write my monthly review only tomorrow, but it would be stupid to interrupt this routine. So here is a short overview of what was going on in August:At the beginning of the month, I spent some time looking at where I store my files online. I’ve now switched from Hetzner’s Storage Share to Microsoft’s OneDrive. A controversial decision, but I think it was the right one. I trust that my files are now better protected against data loss. Plus, for almost the same price, …
Jan-Lukas ElseA browser for my smartwatchUntil recently, I used the first generation Galaxy Watch with Tizen. For Tizen, Samsung had released a browser app for smartwatches. This allowed me to view links in notifications directly on the smartwatch when I didn’t want to reach for my phone.Unfortunately, this option disappeared when I switched to the Galaxy Watch 4, since there was no decent browser on Wear OS 3. But only until now!Samsung has now released its Samsung Internet browser for Wear OS smartwatches, and I tried it out once …
Jan-Lukas ElseWhy I now mute my watchI am a user of a smartwatch. It is already the third smartwatch in my life (first the Sony SmartWatch 3, then the Samsung Galaxy Watch and now the Galaxy Watch 4) and I am actually quite satisfied with it. I always need an easy way to see the time, even when I’m riding my bike and can’t look at my smartphone (being on time is important to me!), plus it counts my steps and gives me the ability to view notifications right on my wrist so I don’t always have to get my smartphone out of my pocket …
Jan-Lukas ElseNew watch. My old one was still fine and will probably be on sale soon, but this refurbished Galaxy Watch 7 has LTE. I can set up fall detection and use the emergency SOS feature in case of an emergency when my phone is out of reach or broken. Safety first. I can also leave my phone at home and still receive or make calls.
