I was just about to write a long response to a discussion I saw online. But while writing it, I realized that I have an opinion, but I can’t express it properly and somehow I don’t have anything to contribute. So I deleted my draft. I don’t have to give my two cents on everything. 😅
💬 Micro: 2022
This section is for short notes, thoughts or IndieWeb interactions.
I’ve realized that trying to strictly follow what is on the IndieWeb wiki won’t work well for me. Thus, I have to invent and change some things to make it work better.
The IndieWeb Wiki is a good source of inspiration one could use, but I don’t see it as a guideline you need to closely follow. A lot of IndieWeb sites are too much like social media for my taste. Why replicate social media on your site when you have the freedom to make it better? I was never a fan of “post types”, too many restrictions and sometimes hard to choose between them. (Also, should this post be a like, reply or bookmark? 🤔😅)
Just got my second booster shot. 💉 Hoping to stay free of COVID-19 on vacation and beyond…
I started working on plugins for GoBlog using a Go module I recently discovered: yaegi. It still feels like magic, because Go is typically a compiled language and yaegi makes it dynamic by embedding an interpreter. Is this overkill for GoBlog or does this possibly enable flexibility like WordPress plugins?
To all my feed subscribers: If you are annoyed by the TTS audio or the “Interactions” link, add a “.min” in front of the feed type in the URL. For example https://jlelse.blog/.min.rss. Thanks for following! 😄
The heat lately and the heat in the coming weeks has been bugging me and getting to me so much that I bought a mobile air conditioner. It eats up a lot of electricity and will ruin my very low power consumption (< 800 kWh per year), but maybe it will help me sweat less.
So far I configured most (almost all) settings for GoBlog through a YAML file. But this is not so optimal, after all it happens sometimes that I want to change a small setting, such as the description of a post section, from my smartphone. This would work somehow via SSH, but ideal is something else. Email conversations with Andrés Cárdenas inspired me to finally start the project “settings in the database”. The first step was to make it possible to configure the mentioned post sections. This is now finally possible directly via an administration web interface! This should also be a good step in the direction of making GoBlog more friendly for other users and of course it makes my life easier as well.
This OneDrive feature to remind about pictures from x years ago is really awesome! I captured this sunset 4 years ago today.

To post something again, here are three songs I’m currently really enjoying:
- Jumboclat – B With U (YouTube, bandcamp, Deezer, Soundcloud)
- Martin Jarl & Phelian – 5001 Miles (YouTube, bandcamp, Deezer, Soundcloud)
- LORN - ENTANGLED (YouTube, bandcamp, Deezer, Soundcloud)
If you know songs that are in the same musical direction, feel free to share. 😀
No more Telegram Premium
Telegram decided to cancel my Premium, I got the following message from the @PremiumBot:
Unfortunately, Telegram Premium is not available for users from Germany. You were able to subscribe due to an issue with this bot that existed in the first days after launch and has now been fixed.
The full amount you paid for the subscription has been refunded to your card. We apologize for the inconvenience.
I’m a bit sad, because I really liked the voice message transcription and the new premium stickers were nice as well. Seems like I now need to wait again until Premium is officially available in Germany. ☹️
