It’s nice to spend some time with the family and visit the zoo in Zurich. There were also some Australian animals. They have it probably much better there than their conspecifics in Australia.

Instead of using Instagram, I prefer uploading pictures to my blog. Everyone can view them there without creating an account and visitors don’t get any ads or are tracked.

Tinify or TinyPNG or TinyJPEG is the service I use to automatically compress and resize images uploaded to my micropub media endpoint. It’s a great service with a nice developer API that also offers a free limit of 500 compressions per month and has a pay-what-you-use policy after that (but I won’t upload more than 500 images per month anyway). I use a library written in Go to use the API.

If you want to use Linux applications on Windows you have multiple options. Using the Windows version of the application if it’s available, cross-compile the app, use a VM or Docker, or use the Windows Subsystem for Linux with a X Server.

Like two or three weeks ago, I was a little bored and thought about installing something new on my server again. Yes, I really like installing “things” (it’s actually just adding some lines of configuration to a file), especially when those things improve my life in some way. I installed Miniflux and using it really opened my eyes about the way I consume news. If you don’t want to host Miniflux yourself, like I do (which allows me to tweak the configuration), there’s also a very cheap hosted version for just some bucks a year.
