My September ‘24 in Review
And another month has passed. With September, 75% of the year is already over. Christmas is coming soon! 🎄
But once again, there’s not much exciting to share. A lot of my time right now is spent supporting my girlfriend, who is finally taking her (hopefully) final exams in October and will then be done with her studies. 🥳
But even studying needs a break sometimes, so at the beginning of the month, we went to a nearby lake and went hiking. The next two weekends, I went biking a bit here and there. And on the last weekend, I visited my family, and we took a trip to Switzerland.
Last weekend, I had planned to go biking again, but after about 20 kilometers, pedaling started to feel weird—maybe there’s something wrong with the bottom bracket? I took the tram back home and will schedule a repair at the shop soon. With the temperature dropping a lot recently, the biking season is probably over anyway, and the first maintenance check for the bike is due.
Instead of biking, I spent some time programming. My blog software now finally supports passkeys, a new secure way to log in to websites without a password. I had planned to do this for a while, but it wasn’t that easy.
By the way, I had my second work anniversary in September. I’ve been at this job for over two years now, and I’m the developer in the project subteam that has been around the longest. Even though the automotive industry isn’t my favorite field, I still really like the job. There’s always the chance to learn something new and grow. Plus, I still appreciate being able to work 100% remotely (although I do go to the company events—free food at company expense! 😋😉).
If everything goes as planned, I’ll have a few vacation days in October, which I’m really looking forward to!
P.S.: I’m also curious (as a current ex-member—I left my local chapter due to moving) about how things will develop with the German Green Party. I mentioned before (🇩🇪) that politics, especially with the recent state elections, has been frustrating me a bit. Could a new board finally push back against all the Green Party hate? I have a bit of hope again. 😊
