I bought an iPhone (as my third smartphone)

Published on in 📱 appydroid

I never thought I would do this, but I bought an iPhone. It’s a pretty cheap iPhone SE 2. Gen (2020) used from eBay, like the device I got issued from my work. It’s so tiny and it’s really difficult to type even a short text like this.

Why I’d never switch to an 🍎 iPhone

Recently, Kev announced he’s switching back to Android, and judging by his first impressions, he seems to be enjoying it. Coincidentally, I came across a video from Linus Tech Tips, where Linus shared his thoughts after using an iPhone for 30 days – and let’s just say, he wasn’t impressed.

How many posts have I read now with people buying a new MacBook Pro to use for a very long time? How many of them will buy new devices in two years? 😅

If you really want to use a device for a long time (more than 5 years) then I don’t think it’s a good idea to buy a device from the golden apple orchard with the new processors. 🍎 Better buy a device which also has good Linux support. 🐧

Apple will come up with something to persuade Apple fans to buy even more expensive new devices in two years. 😎

Just my 2️⃣ cents…

I think I’m just going to ignore most tech news for the next few days because it’s going to be all about Apple again.

On the app store debate

Published on in ✍️ Posts

In the current debate (which has been going on for a while) about allowing alternative app stores on mobile devices, I honestly don’t understand at all the position that being able to use an alternative store would compromise security.

(IMHO) Apple sucks

Published on in ✍️ Posts

The fact that I am not an Apple fan may have already been read in one or the other post. But everyone should make their own decisions and use Apple if it makes them happy.

Honestly, I don’t quite believe Apple is that altruistic and actually cares about the privacy of their customers and users, rather I think it’s driven by a desire for even more profits. Apple has jumped on the privacy bandwagon because it’s financially rewarding.

Just another case of unfair competition

Published on in 💭 Thoughts

With Apple launching Fitness+, they launched just another service with an anti-competitive advantage. While they take almost 100% of what’s left after taxes etc., other services are forced to use In-App-Purchases of which Apple takes 30%. I don’t understand how some people defend Apple for this and think this behavior benefits them. Actually, it only leads to a decrease in the quality of non-Apple services, because they somehow have to try to compete with Apple, but get 30% less of the revenues. But in the end I don’t really care, I don’t buy any of Apple’s overpriced products with false privacy promises and platform lock-in anyway.
