Hetzner has Object Storage in beta now. I got access to it, but one thing is holding me back from using it: A fixed price (5,95 € per month per bucket), even if there is nothing stored in there or way less than the included 1 TB. Why not bill based on actual usage, like most other services are doing it nowadays? I guess I will keep using Scaleway Object Storage and Cloudflare R2.

It’s nice to see a cloud provider lower prices, which seems very uncommon, as all the prices (cloud, domains, …) usually go up all the time. And it’s also my provider of choice, which means I will have to pay less for my virtual server in the future! 😄
Scaleway Serverless Jobs
Scaleway continues to build a European AWS alternative. Today, I tried one of its new products: Serverless Jobs.
Netlify has problems and suddenly many of the feeds in my Miniflux instance can’t be refreshed anymore and fail with timeout errors. I guess all those people use Netlify. Didn’t Netlify advertise using a multi-cloud solution?
My storage setup
Since I use many different devices and want to access the same files from all of them, I run my “own cloud” at home with an Odroid-HC2 (a Raspberry 4 or similar device should work just as well). A 2 TB NAS hard disk (Seagate Ironwolf) is connected to the HC2, where all files are stored. Using Docker I have installed Nextcloud for files (documents, photos, etc.) as well as Gitea (code repositories). Encrypted incremental backups are done daily at night using restic and uploaded to Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage (they are quite cheap and now also have a European data center).
