Lowlands bike tour

On Thursday, I made another bike tour. Not in the low mountains, but in the south of the North German Plain. With more distance compared to the last time, I had way less incline and that makes a big difference.

Although I know my way around the area and the tour was somehow a little less exciting as a result, I sometimes got a little lost or didn’t follow my planned route exactly. That’s why I’ve now ordered a Wahoo ELEMNT ROAM v2. It’s almost as expensive as my smartphone, but maybe it will help me to stop less while cycling to check my route first. Even though I already have a smartwatch that tells me the direction. The Komoot app just doesn’t show a map on the watch.

soeren I have a v1 Wahoo Roam and used it for every longer bike tour in the last years. Battery life is incredible and yes, Komoot mobile app is not the best :-)

- Thomas Gigold @en Spannend. Ich hab mich aus den Gründen, die du Pro Handy aufführst genau für einen Radcomputer entschieden. 😅 Geschmäcker sind verschieden. Ich hab n Garmin; keine Zwangsupdates und funktioniert tadellos; gerade die Sounds finde ich hilfreich - ich will die Karte nicht immer im Blick haben. Bin die erste Zeit auch mit Telefon gefahren - aber mich nervte der große Bildschirm. Zudem kann ich das Garmin mit einem Trittsensor verbinden, was mir wichtig war.
- Marco Interessante Idee. Ich würde die Tasten vermissen, die einem, v.a. bei Regenfahrten, sehr hilfreich sein können. Wie schaut's mit der Akkulaufzeit aus? Kannst du abschätzen, wie lange du damit fahren könntest, ohne ein Akkupack anschließen zu müssen?

Turns out it still does not support multiple devices, even unlike WhatsApp. But after some more research, I found Molly, a Signal fork for Android that adds some features like multi-device support, but uses the Signal servers. My Samsung Galaxy A54 is my main phone, which I carry everywhere I go, except for planned bike rides, for which I use my Samsung Galaxy XCover 7.
