On the subject of Signal, they seem to have changed their mission regarding open source. The server code hasn’t been updated for almost a year and they don’t respond to requests regarding this. See this issue on GitHub.
There’s a new Facebook leak. And this time there’s an interesting news.
Colin Walker is trying to refactor his blogging software to make it available to others. Regarding whether anyone else will end up using it, he writes:
Two years ago today, I registered jlelse.blog and merged my different blogs into one. Since then, I definitely blog more and now use the blog instead of posting on siloed platforms as well. It has definitely paid off. And the domain is already renewed for another two years.
This thread and comment in the forum of the blogging platform Ghost show me, that it was the right decision to not use Ghost anymore since 2018.
If you’re running a personal blog, then it doesn’t matter how often or how much you blog. I think these points are much more important:
After I had the spontaneous idea to just use my own blog software for diary writing, I added the functionality for a “private mode” this morning. In private mode a login is required on all pages.
I have tried this journal writing already more than once, but after quite a short time always stopped again, mostly just because it was too much effort and I did not persevere.
Like many others I have read about online the last few days, I am a happy and satisfied Bitwarden user, with my own installation of bitwarden_rs.
