I recently complained about domain registrars. But I also recently registered a new domain: j7s.me. A numeronym of my first name. And the .me TLD to show that I am a person. (And it is a short domain that was available.)
I received my blood results last week and have since been taking high dose vitamin D pills (also B12 and folic acid once a week) to improve my extremely low levels (~9 ng/ml).
I feel as if it’s already having an effect: I have more energy throughout the day and feel much better mentally. But it could also be a placebo effect. 🤔
Recently, I came across ooh.directory. A blog directory that lists blogs from all sorts of categories. (My blog is listed there, too).
I mean. Fuck. Is that really what we’ve been reduced to? A set of eyeballs (or earballs??) to be squeezed until every last tear of attention is drained. The image of human batteries powering the simulation is barely a metaphor at this point.
If you’re running a personal blog, then it doesn’t matter how often or how much you blog. I think these points are much more important:
Just a small comparison to show that many websites are completely obese: My bachelor thesis in PDF format (which I handed in yesterday) has a size of 1.4 MB. It contains several images and 85 pages of text. With a high information density, this is a much smaller size than most websites have. And it would have been probably also possible to compress or optimize the PDF further.

When was the last time you watched a 90 minute movie without drifting off with the thoughts, pulling out the smartphone or doing something else in between than watching the movie? I often cannot even manage to watch a 30 minute video without being distracted.
Ben Evans created amazing pieces of art. He “draw” a sunset, a still life and a portrait. But instead of images, he created CSS style sheets. All those images are made with just CSS. It is very impressive!
