Part 1 of the move (Kassel to Braunschweig) is complete. Today we dropped off the van, handed over the apartment, and took the opportunity to take one last walk through the nearby park and nature. Part 2 (second home to new primary residence) will follow soon.

Four years ago on this day, the government decided to close all schools and universities because of Covid-19. It was hard to get toilet paper or pasta because people started hoarding. Crazy what happened in those four years.

This time I’m doing my commute (to my second flat) with this new 70L travel backpack from Decathlon. It’s already full with just my work stuff (notebook, keyboard, mouse) and some other stuff (personal notebook, smaller backpack, toiletries, 2L water bottle). How am I supposed to fit 14 days of vacation stuff in there? 🤔 Good that I can take a vacation without having to take the work stuff with me. 😅

Move mastered

Published on in 💭 Thoughts

Finally it’s done, after a super exhausting day, I’m finally lying in bed, the move is done! All the furniture I need and also a total of 18 moving boxes with my stuff are now here. My girlfriend and her family helped me with it. With a total of 8 people, everything went quickly and before 3pm we were ready so that my girlfriend could help me unpack boxes.

I just took a quick look at my server logs. And I see that there are some bots that are constantly crawling my site. If that would be search engines, feed readers etc. that wouldn’t be a problem. But this are crawlers by companies whose websites try to sell me some tools to “make SEO easier” and “uncover the strong and weak points of my sites and their competitors”. They are crawling my site and make me pay for the server while they are building indices to sell for big money? I think that sucks.

A few days ago, an OVH data center went up in flames and was completely destroyed. This reminded me that it is important to store backups in another place on earth if possible, so better not in the same data center as the server that might burn down.

There are Corona news all the time. Kindergartens and schools in Lower Saxony are closed until the second half of April. Also, presence lectures at universities no longer take place. That means no lectures for me but studying from home.

In addition to better hygiene (wash your hands!), this is probably a good way to contain the spread of the disease and not overburden the health system. However, panic also seems to be spreading:

Find broken links on your website with muffet

Published on in 👨‍💻 Dev

Today I wanted to check if my blog contains some broken links and it actually did. I used the Go-based tool muffet which crawls a website and checks for HTTP errors when following links. To speed up the process, I started a local Hugo server and used the following command for muffet (after installing it):
