I should have set up something like this earlier, but now I finally did: Uptime Kuma. I currently host it on my home server and let it monitor my main VPS, my mail server, and some self-hosted services. Simple to set up and configure with SQLite!
I finally pulled the trigger and moved all my Fediverse followers from j7s@j7s.me to en@jlelse.blog, I only used the former account to share my blog links anyway. If you were following me for my German posts, please take a look at de@jlelse.blog. Have a nice day! 😊
Achievement for today: I can finally correctly reply to Mastodon/Fediverse/ActivityPub posts. 🥳
P.S.: And I can mention ActivityPub actors and they will get a notification (at least on Mastodon).
One advantage when developing your own CMS software is that you can add new features very easily. Although you should not push this too far that unnecessarily many features collect and afterwards the quality suffers, but some things are still good to have.
Maybe I’m getting paranoid right now, or maybe I’m going into some sort of social media detox. After deleting my Facebook account some time ago and saying goodbye to Snapchat, I also deleted my reddit account. Why? That’s what I’m telling you here…
